Jean rang. She has been a friend and supporter of CLAWS for many years and also volunteers for another local cat rescue.
She had been contacted by a lady who was fleeing the country to escape domestic abuse and flight regulations only allowed her to take 2 cats. She opted to take the two 7 year old brothers as Angel, the 3rd cat was 22 and found even a trip to the local vet a trial
She said that she was expecting a NO to her request but felt, that it was such a sad case, she had to ask
.
I said the CLAWS was full but that I would ask Beverley.
I said to Beverley that I knew that we were full but that Angel fitted the type of cat CLAWS "specialised” in - old, infirm and homeless. She said "Of course” and Jean readily agreed to collect Angel from her safe haven and deliver her to Bear Cottage.
Beverley prepared the library which would provide Angel with a cosy home and give her a view of the comings and goings and a view down the garden and what was going on in the kitchen
Now in her 24th year she has "migrated” into the cottage with the rest of the Bear Cottage gang
If Toby becomes too much for her she just shouts at him and he runs away !
Since little Angel is 24 this year, like us all she has a bit of arthritis. So each month she goes to the vet for a quick check up and an injection called Silencia. It is specifically for cats and helps her along.
She loves all of the attention that she gets from the vets and nurses at the CLAWS vet and hardly notices the injection. In this weather she likes to just sit closely by the fire and toast herself !!!!
